A 4 Days Midrange Safari from Moshi After Trekking is one of the best ways to relax, recover and celebrate after climbing Mount Kilimanjaro or completing another trekking adventure in northern Tanzania. After several days on the mountain, your body needs comfort, warm meals, beautiful scenery and a slower travel rhythm. A midrange safari gives you exactly that while taking you to some of Tanzania’s most famous wildlife destinations.
Starting from Moshi, this 4-day safari can take you to Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater, creating a perfect safari extension after your Kilimanjaro climb. Instead of rushing home after trekking, you can continue your Tanzania journey with game drives, wildlife photography, comfortable lodges or tented camps, and the chance to see lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, hippos, hyenas and many other animals.
This itinerary is ideal for travelers who want a balance between adventure and comfort. It is not a basic camping safari and not an expensive luxury safari. A midrange safari offers comfortable accommodation, private transport, professional guiding and great value for money.
Why Choose a Safari from Moshi After Trekking?
Moshi is one of the main starting and ending points for Mount Kilimanjaro treks. Many climbers finish their trek in Moshi and then look for a short safari before flying home. A 4 days Tanzania safari from Moshi is a smart choice because it allows you to continue your trip without unnecessary transfers.
After trekking, your body may be tired from altitude, long hiking days and early mornings. A midrange safari gives you time to rest while still enjoying Tanzania’s natural beauty. You will travel in a comfortable 4×4 safari vehicle, sleep in lodges or tented camps, and enjoy meals prepared for travelers who need energy and recovery.
This safari is perfect for:
- Kilimanjaro climbers after Machame, Marangu, Lemosho, Rongai or Umbwe routes

Detailed 4 Days Midrange Safari Itinerary from Moshi After Trekking
Day 1: Moshi to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast at your hotel in Moshi, your safari guide will meet you for a short briefing. Since this safari is designed for travelers coming from trekking, the departure can be flexible depending on how tired you are after the mountain. However, an early start is recommended so you can enjoy more time inside Tarangire National Park.
You will drive from Moshi toward Tarangire, passing through local towns, farms and open landscapes. Tarangire is famous for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees and seasonal wildlife concentration along the Tarangire River. It is a beautiful first safari destination because the landscape is different from the mountain environment you have just experienced.
After entering the park, you will begin your first game drive. You may see elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impalas, warthogs, buffaloes, baboons and many bird species. If you are lucky, you may also spot lions, leopards or cheetahs.
Your guide will choose a good place for lunch, either at a picnic site or lodge depending on your package. In the afternoon, you will continue exploring the park before driving to your midrange lodge or tented camp near Tarangire, Karatu or the surrounding area.
After several days of trekking, this first safari night is a chance to relax, shower properly, enjoy dinner and sleep comfortably.
Main Activities: Drive from Moshi, Tarangire game drive, wildlife photography and overnight stay.
Meals: Lunch and dinner.
Accommodation: Midrange lodge or tented camp near Tarangire or Karatu.
Day 2: Tarangire / Karatu to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you will leave your lodge and begin the journey toward Serengeti National Park. This is one of the most scenic travel days of the safari. You may pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, highland landscapes and open plains before reaching the Serengeti.
Serengeti National Park is one of the most famous safari destinations in Africa. The name “Serengeti” is often associated with endless plains, big cats, the Great Migration and classic African wildlife scenes. For many travelers, visiting Serengeti after climbing Kilimanjaro becomes the second major highlight of their Tanzania adventure.
You will enjoy game viewing along the way as you enter the Serengeti. The park is home to lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hyenas, gazelles and many other animals. Depending on the season and route, you may see large herds moving across the plains or predators resting near kopjes and trees.
In the late afternoon or evening, you will arrive at your midrange tented camp or lodge in the Serengeti. After check-in, you can relax, enjoy dinner and listen to the sounds of the wilderness.
Main Activities: Scenic transfer to Serengeti, en-route game drive and afternoon wildlife viewing.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Accommodation: Midrange tented camp or lodge inside or near Serengeti National Park.
Day 3: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
This day begins with an early morning game drive in Serengeti. Morning is one of the best times to search for predators because animals are more active before the heat of the day. Lions may still be moving, cheetahs may be scanning the plains, and hyenas may be returning from night activity.
Your guide will follow the best wildlife routes based on recent sightings, season and animal movement. You may see elephants walking through the plains, giraffes feeding from acacia trees, wildebeest and zebras grazing, or hippos resting in pools. The Serengeti also offers excellent chances for photography because of its wide open landscapes and dramatic skies.
After the morning game drive, you will start heading toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Depending on your schedule, you may enjoy more game viewing as you leave the Serengeti. The route gives you a final chance to spot animals before reaching the highlands near Ngorongoro.
You will arrive at your lodge or tented camp near the crater rim or in the Karatu area for dinner and overnight stay. The cooler highland climate can feel refreshing after the warmer Serengeti plains.
Main Activities: Morning Serengeti game drive, transfer to Ngorongoro area and scenic highland views.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Accommodation: Midrange lodge or tented camp near Ngorongoro or Karatu.
Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater Tour – Return to Moshi, Arusha or Airport
After early breakfast, you will descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive. Ngorongoro Crater is one of Tanzania’s most beautiful wildlife areas and a perfect final destination for a 4-day safari after trekking.
The crater floor has grasslands, forests, wetlands and a soda lake, creating a rich habitat for many animals. You may see lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, hyenas, jackals, warthogs and many bird species. If lucky, you may also see the rare black rhino from a distance.
Ngorongoro is especially good for travelers with limited safari time because wildlife is concentrated within the crater. This makes the final day exciting and rewarding before returning to town.
After the game drive and lunch, you will drive back to Moshi, Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport depending on your travel plan. This marks the end of your 4 Days Midrange Safari from Moshi After Trekking.
Main Activities: Ngorongoro Crater game drive, wildlife viewing, photography and return transfer.
Meals: Breakfast and lunch.
Drop-Off: Moshi, Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport.
